Executive Director: Dr. Michael Nokokure Humavindu
Dr. Michael Nokokure Humavindu is Executive Director at Ministry of Finance. Prior to that he served as Executive Director of National Planning Commission-Namibia. Previously he was the Deputy Executive Director: Industrialisation, Investment Policy and Enterprise Development at the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade (MIT). Before that, he served as Director: Economics and Sector Research at the Namibian Competition Commission (NACC) after spending several years as Portfolio Manager at Development Bank of Namibia. He counts strategy development and implementation, industrial and enterprise development policy, large scale financing, public investment, ESG, integrated reporting, corporate sustainability, development finance and banking, natural resource economics and strategic governance among his skills. He recently served on the boards of Namibia University of Science & Technology (NUST), Agribank, Namdeb Holdings, Debmarine Namibia and the Sustainable Development Advisory Committee (SDAC). He was appointed by the Bank of Namibia as an Interim Chair of the Credit Committee during the liquidation of SME Bank. Dr. Humavindu chaired the Environmental Economics Network of Namibia (EENN), is a Director on the Peugeot-Opel Assembly Namibia (POAN) board and is a member of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism’s Nature Conservation Board. He served at MIT as a Ministerial Focal Point for EMPRETEC NAMIBIA, STARTUP NAMIBIA and the National Ozone Unit (NOU). At the NPC he was the Deputy National Authorising Officer and Focal Point for all Development Partners/Official Development Assistance. He holds a PhD (Economics) from the University of Umeå, Sweden, an MSc (Finance & Investment) from Durham University, United Kingdom and a MA (Economics) from Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles.
